ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN
SOCIAL WELFARE ADMINISTRATION

Introduction

The Advanced Certificate in Social Welfare Administration is a part-time, evening programme. Conducted by the School of Social Work , this certificate course was initiated to meet the needs of social welfare organisations for advanced training in the management of social welfare programmes.

This part-time, two-semester programme is conducted at the Mumbai Campus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Course Outline

Theory Courses (12 Credits)

• Project Formulation, Monitoring and Evaluation
• Agency Administration
• Human Resource Development
• Organisational Behaviour and Development
• Contemporary Social Issues and Social Policies
• Financial Management

Field Work (6 credits)

Students will be required to undertake field work in an organisation other than their own. Field work will be assigned on the basis of individual and organisational needs and will be task-oriented. This will cover scope, strategies for organisational change, human resource development, resource mobilisation and resource management, social aspects in monitoring and evaluation. Field work will be for one month at the end of the course work, for which students will be required to take leave.

Project Report (4 credits)

A project gives the student an opportunity to undertake problem solving, planning or research activity in an area of interest, which has relevance to his/her work situation. The subject area will be identified in the middle of the first semester and each student will be allotted a guide.

Eligibility

Master’s Degree in Social Work with a minimum of 3 years of work experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the field of development administration of social welfare organisations, social services and social security measures.
