DIPLOMA IN HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION

Introduction

The Diploma in Hospital Administration is offered by the School of Health Systems Studies, and fulfils the specific needs of hospitals. The curriculum and course content take into consideration the existing background of available personnel as well as the future needs of hospitals. This comprehensive programme will provide a professional qualification to those who wish to take up hospital administration at senior and middle levels.

The classes are held at the Institute’s premises at Deonar, Mumbai, from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays, from 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. However, if the regular class or classes are cancelled due to any reason, such class/classes will be held on any Saturday and/or Sunday.

The total credit hours for this Diploma Programme will be 44 as detailed below:

• 16 Theory Courses = 32 credit hours
• 2 months of Field Work = 8 credit hours
• Project Report = 4 credit hours

Eligibility

A Bachelor’s Degree (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education), either in medicine or paramedical faculty, with a minimum of 3 years work experience in a health care institution or a Bachelor’s Degree in any other faculty (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education), with 45% of marks (35% for Scheduled Castes [SCs] and Scheduled Tribes [STs]) and with a minimum of 5 years work experience in a health care institution.
Age under 45 years. In special cases, this limit may be relaxed.

Selection Procedure

Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be called for an interview by the Selection Committee. The names of selected candidates will be notified on the Institute’s Notice Board after all the interviews are over.

Reservations

The TISS is an equal opportunity institution and there is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, age or physical disability. As per the Government of India directives, there is a reservation for the following groups:

15% for SCs and 7.5% for STs.
3% of seats are reserved for the persons with disability of which 1% each is reserved for (a) Low Vision/ Blindness, (b) Hearing Impairment, and (c) Locomotor Disability/ Cerebral Palsy.
