Dr. Sharma is interested in interdisciplinary inquiry into human-environment/nature-culture relations, climate change, media, memory and heritage studies (with an emphasis on natural & mixed heritage landscapes), and gender relations. Broadly, her research interests are located within environmental and cultural studies, urban/political ecology, and where possible extending research to creative/pedagogical spaces.
During 2013-16, she has supervised following MPhil and MA Dissertations.
Shamin's main area of research is visuospatial thinking in science education.
For her doctoral thesis she designed a pedagogy to teach elementary astronomy and tried it with Grade 8 students in three schools from educationally disadvantaged background (a tribal ashram school, a rural school and an urban school).
