Health Insurance

Health Insurance In keeping with the Institute vision of welfare for students, the Office of Students Affairs (OSA) has been working on the component of Medical & Health Insurance since February 2006.

Brief Description of Policy
At present the Students are covered under cashless Group Health Insurance policy of Rs. 1 lac and Personal Accident Policy of Rs. 1.5 lacs. These cover the student in case he/she gets hospitalized because of some accident or any other illness. Students don have to pay anything if they are admitted to the hospital which is in the list of the insurance company. In case they are admitted to any other hospital they can reimburse the medical expenses by forwarding their claims to the company. This year the OPD expenses spent by the students are also covered to the limit of Rs.2500/- per year. The company agreed to cover the pre-existing diseases of the insured student without any increase in the premium.

A student falling ill should inform the concerned Warden immediately. Students are advised to consult the Doctors on Campus immediately. In case of an emergency, the Hostel Warden may telephone the Doctor and request him/her to attend the student, provided that the student is not under the treatment of another medical practitioner. The student will pay for any out of turn visit made by the Doctor. In case of infectious diseases and other medical emergencies, the Institute may admit the student to a hospital on the recommendation of the Institute Doctor. A first-aid kit is available with all the hostel representatives, wardens, Security (Main Gate) and Maintenance Section. The students are expected to contact the above in the case of an emergency.

Health Centre

The Health Centre on Campus is a two story facility where the Doctors on Campus utilize 2 rooms for daily consultations.
