Towards this, the first issue of The Indian Journal of Social Work (IJSW) was published in June 1940. It is a matter of great pride to us the IJSW has entered its 66th year of uninterrupted publishing, a record in the field of journal publishing.
Besides the IJSW, the Publications Unit has been engaged in, since 1948, in the production and dissemination of books like research monographs, seminar reports, handbooks, manuals, directories, bibliographies, course compendia and case studies. The materials published focus on multi-disciplinary knowledge generation pertinent to the emerging perspectives of social work and social sciences on issues of the marginalised groups, such as children, youth, the elderly, women, Dalits, indigenous population, labour, the disabled, and so on. Issues related to livelihood, health, housing, education, occupation, criminality, disasters, and the like are of concern.
