TISS announces Admission to the following Master Degree Programmes, 2008-2010

  7. Human Resources Management and Labour Relations
  8. Media and Cultural Studies
  9. Social Entrepreneurship

Note: Admission Notification for M.A. in Social Work will be released separately.

ELIGIBILITY: A Bachelor's Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognised University, in any discipline.

Notes:

•  Students who will complete the final year Bachelor's degree examinations by June 21, 2008, are also eligible to apply provided they have successfully completed their first and second years, if the degree course is of three years; and the first, second and third years, if the degree course is of four years on the day of applying for any of the above programmes.

•  Candidates who are awaiting their final year Bachelor's Degree examination results are not eligible to apply for programme nos.
3, 5 and 6. Medical graduates should complete their internship before June 21, 2008.

Test Centres:

Ahmedabad, Aurangabad , Bangalore , Bhopal , Chennai, Delhi , Guwahati, Hyderabad , Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow , Mumbai, Nagpur , Patna , Port Blair, Srinagar , and Thiruvananthapuram.

The Institute reserves the right to change or cancel test centre at its discretion.

APPLICATION FORMS AND INFORMATION BROCHURE:

Candidates can apply and give the Written Test for a maximum of three programmes. However, only one Application Form should be used even if applying for more than one programme. The Application Processing Fee is Rs.750/- per programme. Therefore, if you are applying for any two programmes, the Fee is Rs.1,500/- and Rs.2,250/-

if applying for any three programmes. The Application Form and Information Brochure can be obtained:

•  By sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar, along with a DD drawn in favour of the “Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai' for a minimum amount of Rs.750/- and self-addressed A4-sized cloth-lined envelope. If applying for more than one programme, the candidate should enclose a DD for the difference amount at the time of submission of the Application Form, or

•  From the Cash Counter at TISS, Mumbai against a minimum cash payment of Rs.750/-. If applying for more than one programme, the candidate should enclose a DD for the difference amount (if submitting through post) or pay by cash at the Cash Counter, TISS, Mumbai, at the time of submission of the Application Form, or

•  By downloading from www.tiss.edu (to be completed and submitted with a DD of requisite amount)

Unemployed SC and ST candidates, whose parents/guardian's income were Rupees One lakh or below for financial year

2006-2007 can obtain the Application Form free of cost. They can download the form from website: www.tiss.edu and submit it along with a true copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate and the Income Certificate or they can send a request letter along with a true copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate, Income Certificate and self-addressed A4-sized cloth-lined envelope to the Deputy Registrar, TISS.

Reservations: Government of India norms will be applicable for admission of SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Disability (PWD) and International Students. Only a limited number of hostel seats and scholarships are available.

Note:

"The Written test will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2008 commencing with Part I test at 10.00 am. The duration of the Part I test  is ONE hour and Part II test is also for ONE hour. Part II test will be conducted in continuation of Part I test. Therefore, the maximum duration of the Written Test is FOUR hours beginning from 10.00 am to 02.00 pm."

Those who have applied for any one programme, the total duration of the test will be TWO hours.

Those who have applied for any two programmes, the total duration of the  test will be THREE hours

Those who have applied for a maximum of  three programmes, the total duration of the  test will be FOUR hours
