  • Ph.D. (Developmental Psychology), Allahabad University

Academic and Professional Profile

Dr. Nayar's major areas of interest include:

  • qualitative methodologies in social research;
  • media, information and communication technology for social sciences;
  • capacity-building and restructuring of organizations;
  • values, beliefs and issues related to children and young people;
  • exclusion and globalisation.

She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Psychologist

Dr. Nayar was Elected Vice-President, ChildWatch International in 2002–2005 and re-elected as a Member of Advisory Board.

Dr. Nayar is a designated WHO Expert on Mental Health and Social Change. She has also held several other important positions in international professional bodies.

Dr. Nayar is also an Assessor, National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC) that assesses universities and research institutions.

She is Founder-Trustee Member, former Director and current Chairperson of the Technology and Social Health (TASH) Foundation since, 1992.

Dr. Nayar is Member, Editorial Board, Journal of Psychological Research , India , since 2002.

Dr. Nayar has received “Vidya Ratna” award from Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV), in 2003.

As Deputy Director of TISS Dr. Nayar is a member of the Governing Board, the Academic Council and the Chairperson of the Ethics Research Committee of the Institute. She has led and served on numerous other academic and professional bodies within TISS.
