DIPLOMA COURSE 2019-20 in
COMMUNITY–BASED PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY
A unique opportunity offered by PUKAR for Mumbai’s Youth to understand and experience the city through research. This is a year-long activity-based weekend course which offers an avenue to identify, understand and study the issues of local communities. The course aims to nurture the knowledge, talent and passions of youth and promotes their right to research. The knowledge which they create at the end of the course also gives them confidence to become informed thinkers and leaders of their communities.
DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY–BASED
PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY
PUKAR’s diploma course is based on group action research which is specially designed for community and undergraduate youth to carry out research on their everyday experiences and contribute to the development of the communities through knowledge creation.
Duration : It is 12-month course. Sessions are held on Sundays and on Public Holidays. It starts from June 2019 and completes in June 2020.
Eligibility : You need to have your group of 8-10 members, you need to be in the age group of 18 years and above and at-least 10th and/or 12th pass.
Course Content & Methodology: This course is divided into five phases: i) Understanding Self and Team, ii) Understanding Research, iii) Critical Thinking, iv) Communication and v) Research Dissemination and Advocacy.
Through intensive training sessions followed by fieldwork, the youth group undertakes research on a selected topic. The group is guided by mentors and facilitators from PUKAR.

About PUKAR : Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action and Research (PUKAR) is an independent research collective and a knowledge production centre. It promotes research as a right for everyone and uses it as a tool for pedagogy, advocacy, intervention and transformation of the youth, the communities and the city at large.
About CLL, TISS : Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL) was established with the objective of providing training for adult learners in the areas of expertise in TISS. It caters to (a) Professional groups getting rained for their continuing education and (b) the general population from diverse backgrounds who are outside the formal education system and want to access training or goal-oriented short-term vocational programmes.
