4th World Congress on Disaster Management, Mumbai
The 4th WCDM was jointly organized by the Government of Maharashtra, the Jamsetji Tata School of Disaster Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Disaster Management Initiative and Convergence Society from 29th January 2019 to 1st February 2019.
It was designed to be the largest assembly on disaster management outside the UN System. WCDM 2019 revolved around the theme of 'The Future We Want: Bridging Gaps between Policies and Action'. The Congress formed a platform for interaction of science, policy and practices to enhance understanding of risks and advance actions for reducing risks and building resilience to disasters. A book of abstracts with 525 abstracts containing peer-reviewed and selected abstracts and has been published with an ISSN number. The high profile event saw over 2000 participants from more than 30 countries participating. There was a total of seven plenary sessions and 68 parallel thematic sessions wherein professionals, UN representatives, academicians and students presented papers and discussed key issues on disaster risk management.
