All Path-Breaking Initiatives
To raise awareness about Tuberculosis in the society, and to address myths and misconception and reduce TB associated stigma, Saksham Jan Urja (SJU) in collaboration with Municipal Cooperation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Mumbai District Tuberculosis Control Society (MDTCS) and with support from Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) produced an educational film titled ‘Bimar Ko Nahin Bimari Ko Haraiye’. The film was formally launched by Mr. Vishwanath Mahdeshwar (Mayor - Mumbai city) on the eve of World TB Day on March 24 2017. The programme was attended by Dr. Padmaja Keskar (Executive Health Officer, MCGM), Dr. Daksha Shah, (City TB Officer) and Dr. Utpal Chakraborty (Chief Medical Officer - Tata Power) from partner agencies.
The movie highlights the importance of accurate and complete knowledge of TB (signs and symptoms, cause of TB, prevention from TB and importance of completing treatment of TB). The message in the movie is an inspiration for families, friends, colleagues and the larger society, to give up stigmatizing attitudes and provide the much-needed support to patients to successfully complete TB treatment. The movie is of 16 minutes and apart for this three animated clips on signs and symptoms, cough hygiene and nutrition were also filmed. These clips and movie will be used for the larger interest of the society to disseminate information about TB in the community and creating mass awareness.
