The School of Education, TISS launched the Educational Resource Centre (ERC) at TISS on 5th September 2019 to mark Teacher’s Day.

This programme was organised by the School of Education, TISS, to meet the objectives proposed under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).

The ERC was inaugurated by the Chief Guest -Dr Sugra Chunawala, Dean- Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. The inauguration was attended by TISS students, student-teachers and principals of BEd colleges. This event also saw the release of ‘Riyaz’- a periodical brought out by the MA education students of the Centre. 

This ERC will house research literature, teaching-learning resources, textbooks and children’s literature and include archival resources and access to digital resources, which will be accessible to schools and to the wider community. The ERC is visualised as a space for the professional development of teachers, student teachers, faculty of education, research scholars and personnel working in the education sector. It is meant to create a common forum wherein practitioners take responsibility for their own professional development.

We recognise that learning is socially constructed and takes place through interaction with others and the ERC aims to provide opportunities for such interactions. Through this Resource Centre, we aim to provide a common platform for practising and prospective teachers as well as teacher educators and create synergy among teacher education institutions and neighbouring schools.

The Resource Centre will be open to interested teachers and their students from neighbourhood schools, students of B.Ed, M.Ed, MA Education, faculty of teacher education institutes and scholars pursuing research in education.
