About International Relations Office (IRO):

The International Relations Office (IRO) was established in the year 2006 as International Students' Office (ISO) to facilitate mutually beneficial international academic exchange and collaboration between TISS and foreign Universities /Institutions. TISS has signed MoUs with some of the best institutions around the world and established linkages with Universities and Institutions in Asia, Europe and North America.

The key objectives of the International Relations Office (IRO) are:

  • Facilitate and enhance the global visibility and profile of TISS.

  • Develop, coordinate and strengthen international linkages.

  • Facilitate, assist and help international students in all their academic pursuits.

  • Progressively increase the scope of the Study in India (SIP) and Study Abroad Programmes (SAP).

  • Provide a base to assist International and Indian scholars for career advancement and contribute towards enhancing bilateral relations.

IRO plays an important role in liaising with various internal departments to facilitate the exchange of students/ faculty/ staff members between TISS and outside Universities, or students/ individuals/ researchers seeking admission/ affiliation at the Institute.

IRO facilitates:

  • Facilitate admission to Full time Degree Programs (BA/ MA/ Integrated M.Phil-PhD/ Direct PhD)

  • Facilitate admission to Online, Diploma, Short-term Programs (STP) and Certificate Programs

  • Manage and facilitate - Incoming and Outgoing Student Exchange Programs (Semester exchange – Coursework/ Fieldwork or Field Placement/ Research Affiliation)

  • Manage and facilitate - Incoming and Outgoing Faculty Exchange Programs

  • Customized Short-term Study in India Programs (SIP)

  • Organize and facilitate Joint Seminars/ Workshops/ Symposium/ Conferences

  • Handle delegations from Foreign Universities or Potential partners for Academic and Research collaborations

  • Explore possibilities of Joint Courses/ Online Degree/ Diploma Programmes

  • And engage and partner with several international consortium's like ERASMUS MUNDUS; DAAD; Linnaeus Palme; Obama Singh; and other scholarship groups

The IRO has been successfully managing these activities at the Institute over the years, and has been actively sharing ongoing/ planned/ future activities with students and academic staffs on regular basis.

The number of international students at the institute has gone up as we conducted multiple Study in India programs, received more number of students in our regular academic prgrammes than the previous years and signed new MoUs with several universities. We have been overwhelmed by the interest from international students, which shows that we can create a welcoming and integrating international environment.
