My doctoral work is on the different ways in which the society-nature connection is understood within social theory. Its an attempt to identify the reasons why mainstream social theory, particularly sociology, has not been able to adequately intervene in the environmental question. The work argues that the mode of interaction with nature peculiar to human beings - namely, social production - should be central to the project of grasping the society-nature connection.
