Motiniva Nayak is an Assistant Professor (Economics) at the Centre for Undergraduate Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati Campus. Previously, she taught at the School of Economics, and School of Governance and Public Affairs of Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) University, Bhubaneswar as a Visiting Faculty; at Sambalpur University as a Guest Faculty; Department of Economics, Central University of Rajasthan as Assistant Professor(T).
Her doctoral work was “Access to Finance and Economic Performance: An Analysis of Firms in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Sector in India, 1970 – 2010”. She received her education in Economics and Statistics from G M College affiliated with Sambalpur University at the undergraduate level and later on MA, MPhil, and PhD in Economics under esteemed professors at the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
She teaches courses on Macroeconomics; Theories of Economic Growth; Economics of Development; Classical Political Economy; Indian Economy; Statistical and Econometric Methods and data Analysis, Mathematical Methods, Labour in Service Sector, and Introduction to Economics.
Her research interest concerns role of industry and development, different dimensions of access to finance and financial constraints of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India.
