Since 2013 Sasmita Swain has worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Rural Development at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tuljapur. Prior to TISS, she worked with the Department of Psychology, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, EDII, Bhubaneswar, DDCE, Bhubaneswar. She has a Masters in Psychology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, PGDGC from NCERT, New Delhi, and a Masters in Business Administration from IGNOU, New Delhi. She has been working on Farmers Issues in Maharashtra, Social Enterprises, Old Age, Women’s Health, and Mental Health. She has written several articles in national and internationally reputed journals. Since 2015 she has been mentoring Social Enterprises pilots and guided 31 pilot projects. In 2015 she served as Chairperson of the Study on Status of Farmers Groups in Osmanabad District, Maharashtra, appointed by Govt. of Maharashtra. During 2017-2019, she was also Chairperson, Jury, and National Rural Entrepreneurs Meet awards. She holds a copyright on Farmers Stress Index (FSI).
