Satish Kanamadi is with TISS since 2002 and is presently serving as Librarian. He is a science graduate and has completed his Master’s(1995) and Doctoral Studies (2005) from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He was conferred with two Gold Medals for First Rank at Masters and was awarded UGC Junior Research Fellowship in 1997. He did his PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking (2000) from Central Univeristy of Hyderabad.

His major contributions at TISS include "Creating a Networked Library System" to integrate all four campuses of TISS and developing a functional and easy to navigate library portal http://library.tiss.edu to deliver web based library services. An innovative "Liasion Librarian" service involving 12 member team has been established to provide focussed and personalised learning and research support services

He was the core member of the library leadership, he worked towards Library's Strategic Plan 2007 to conceive academic programmes in information sciences. As per its Strtaegic Plan 2007, TISS Library has launched a cutting edge dual mode PG Diploma in Digital Library and Information Management (2010) and Master of Library and Information Science (2013) and Direct PhD Programme (2012)

In September 2010, he was awarded the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UK and was in London School of Economics, London, UK for three months.His research contributions include articles in national and international journals, edited volumes, book chapters, etc. He has been the coordinator for several workshops, conferences and UGC refresher courses.

His research interests include Cataloguing and Metadata, Web Resources, Information Access, Capacity Building, Information and Digital Literacy, Open Access, Content Management Systems, Knowledge Management, Information Seeking and Research Behaviour, etc.
