Faculty In Charge Of two Field Work Projects (FAP)
· Special Cell for Women & Children (Maharashtra) : Special Cells ( units ) for women established in 1984 which are strategically located in police stations for giving socio- legal services and a multi-agency coordinated response to the issue of violence against women.
· Resource Centre for Interventions on Violence Against Women (2007) : have been able to set-up pilots, expand and institutionalise the Special Cells for Woman approach in various States' contexts.
Prime Responsibilities and Past Work:
· Work with 15 states and Union Territory’s on innovating, demonstrating, hand holding & evaluating State-based Violence against Women intervention models in the last two decades. As on today have started and institutionalized more than 250 offices of Special Cells in Maharshtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana and is currently leading the setting up process in Bihar, Jarkhand, Assam, UT of Ladhak and Jammu and Kashmir.
· Leading all programme and financial management, advocacy, strategic communication, research & documentation, and in-Mumbai & externally based teams, across projects
· Coordinating and guiding a growing team of RCI-VAW 's 100 persons across States, as also supporting the work of 32 personnel of Special Cells for Women & Children in Maharashtra.
· Working strategic relationships with NCW (GoI) (2009 to Present), State Governments of Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, U.P., M.P., Assam, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Delhi, Punjab & Rajasthan, multiple networks of women’s groups, NGOs, Universities, Dasra, and other NGOs & INGOs (incl. UN Women, UNDP, Oxfam)
· Worked closely with Haryana State Government programme of Special Cells for Women & Children, for capacity-support, monitoring, documentation, systems-setting, as part of TISS’ technical support. (2009 to 20015)
· Under TISS’ partnership with Oxfam India for demonstration of Special Cells for Women approach in new States, conducted advocacy for, developed programme design with and supported Government of Gujarat in institutionalisation, systems-setting, personnel training (design & implementation) w.r.t. Police-based Support Centre for Women programme, as well as 181 Women Helpline programme of Gujarat Government’s Gender Resource Centre.
· Replication of Special Cell for Women and Children in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh; The TISS collaborated with UNDP in the project 'Strengthened Access to Justice in India' (SAJI phase I) to replicate Special Cell in the State of Haryana and Madhya Pradesh (2007-2009)
